Sorry to post twice in one day but here goes.

I'm considering using some of my savings to buy a mini. I'm in desperate need of a laptop to take to class and with me when I travel or go to the coffe shop.

Here's the big question, though. Sam's Club is offering the Dell Mini for 245 dollars, which is a pretty good deal, but but but it's Dell. And I HATE Dell. I have only read about three bad reviews out of about 100, but it's Dell, and I HATE Dell.

I'm also considering the eee PC, but I've heard mixed reviews there, and it's about 100 dollars more expensive. I'm not rolling in money by any stretch of the imagination. Should I risk the Dell or go for the eee PC or go for something else?

Belle, who wishes she knew more about computers

ETA: I'm getting the Dell

I was reading PC World and they recommend either HP VT or the Viao. Anywhere between $400-$700. I'm gonna get one when i graduate (it's my present from the bar)

I've used dell almost exclusively for over 15 years. I can't imagine how people hate them. I've only ever had a problem with a Business PC, and they sent techs the very next day to replace the part giving the issue. For home use I've never had a single problem. The machine I'm using now is 8 years old, and still trucking along. I've outgrown it, but it manages to handle the stress I put it under.

I've just gotten a new-to-me Vista loaded Dell that runs great, but for what I'd use it for (gaming) I have to upgrade it a bit more.

I don't think you could go wrong getting the Dell mini.

Yay for your new computer. I used to have a Dell computer and while it worked okay in general, it went totally haywire in the middle of final exams week my sophomore year of college, which made me slightly bitter towards Dell as a whole. Now I have a Mac. LOL.
